Pumpkin Swirl Brownies

 This recipe for Pumpkin Swirl Brownies is a riff off of a Smitten Kitchen recipe for Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies, which I highly recommend. For a long time I thought the idea of combining chocolate with pumpkin was weird and wrong. I was finally forced to try it one year when my mom put chocolate chips in the pumpkin cookies, and my mind was forever changed! I have also come to love the combination of spices and chocolate, and this recipe combines all three! The pumpkin in this recipe takes on a light souffle -ish consistency, while the brownie batter stays reliably dark and dense. The result is a very moist, so if a very moist brownie is not your style, be warned.
